December CCS Friday – Transgressive Devotion

December CCS Friday – Transgressive Devotion

On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Centre for Christian Studies hosted an online presentation by Emmanuel College professor Natalie Wigg-Stevenson and doctoral student Ben Menghini entitled “Rearranging Theological Imaginaries: Performing texts and transgressing book covers”. In Natalie’s new book “Transgressive Devotion: Theology as Performance Art” she argues that theology done as performance art stops trying to describe who God is, and starts trying to make God appear. Ben offers theological reflection visually by drawing on imagery from science fiction book covers. (His theological redesigning can be seen at )
