VIDEO – CCS Friday: Queer Biblical Interpretation

On Friday, November 6, 2020 the Centre for Christian Studies offered an online presentation and discussion on the topic: “Queer Biblical Interpretation.” Biblical scholar (and CCS program staff) Janet Ross along with CCS Principal Michelle Owens discussed ways of reading the Bible that acknowledge the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities. The Bible was written in a patriarchal context, but within the text there is more diversity than is recognized by heteronormative interpretations.

The blessing at the end of the video is written by Rev. Anna Blaedel, theologian in residence at enfleshed.com
