Images from Living Scripture 2026
From October 22 to 28, twelve diaconal ministry students gathered in Winnipeg for the Living Scriptures learning circle. With support from CCS program staff members Janet Ross, Alcris Limongi, Noelle Bowles, and Scott Douglas they explored various approaches to the Bible. They became familiar with various tools for understanding and interpreting scripture. They reflected on how the Bible’s historical context and our contemporary context speak to each other, and how different contexts provide lenses through which to view scripture. We appreciated Lori Stewart’s presence in the circle as a CCS alumni participant and a chaplain.
On Monday of the circle Linnea Good was a special guest (via Zoom) to introduce Biblical telling and the practice of “by hearting”. Then we joined local diaconal ministers for their monthly DUCC lunch. Then we went out to the Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre for supper and a session with ministry students there.
Living Scripture was the second of the fall circles, so students left feeling tired but also like they’d learned a lot.
