November CCS Friday – Loneliness in Ministry

November CCS Friday – Loneliness in Ministry

Do you ever feel isolated in your ministry or leadership? Well, ironically, you are not alone!

On Friday, November 10, 2023 we hosted an online discussion of coping strategies for feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Our special guest was Tracy Fairfield (UCC Diaconal Minister and CCS Alumnus 2008) who shared some learnings and insights and engaged us in reflective activities based on her experience at a clergy wellness retreat put on by BC LeaderShift, at Naramata Centre.

Loneliness and isolation are definitely very different things, but regardless which you feel, as a layperson, clergy, theology student, deacon or deaconess around the world, your vocation impacts your mental health and well-being. In this brave and safe space, you can share and be with one another in confidence and trust.

A book on this topic that Tracy highly recommended was A Path to Belonging: Overcoming Clergy Loneliness by Mary Kay DuChene and Mark Sundby.

CCS Fridays:
Online conversations to help us respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts.  These workshops are open to anyone who might be interested. Each session will be on a Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 (Winnipeg time) and in the form of a Zoom workshop.  There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups.
