On Saturday, September 21st, a class of seven students and two facilitators met from 9 AM to 4 PM at Woodsworth House for the first session of CCS’s new course for Anglicans – Ministering by Word and Example: Exploring DIAKONIA in the Anglican Tradition.
Last Friday the room was full of people eager to discuss the relationship between humour and faith. Lesley Harrison and Scott Douglas offered reflections that were both funny and faithful.
While in Alberta for field orientations, Ted will be taking part in gatherings in Calgary and Edmonton to discuss the World DIAKONIA assembly that was held in Berlin this year.
Second Fridays is back! CCS’s monthly noon-hour presentation and discussion series returns, with a focus on Faith and the Arts this fall.
On August 12, nine students – from Newfoundland to Vancouver—began the 2013 Ottawa Leadership Development Module (LDM) as strangers. A week later, they have bonded as a community of colleagues and friends.
CCS is offering a course of study this fall to explore diakonia in the Anglican tradition. It will be of interest to those preparing for ordination to the diaconate, to deacons, or to anyone wishing to deepen their understanding of ministry.
On May 2, 2013 Jessie MacLeod was presented with the Companion of the Centre award by the Centre for Christian Studies at a gathering in Tatamagouche, NS.

Well, the Annual Service of Celebration weekend is over. It was an important moment for the six graduates of the Diploma in Diaconal Ministries program, but also for all of us who have seen them grow and deepen in their ministry skills over the years.
