Innovation for Reimagining Theological Education
The heads of the United Church theological schools met at the Centre for Christian Studies on June 9 and 10 to discuss collaboration and innovation for theological education. CCS staff led devotions for the group of educators (including General Council staff people) on Tuesday morning, inviting them to think about the seeds the soil they find themselves in and the seeds they are planting with students. While they were in Winnipeg they also visited 1JustCity community ministry and met CCS grad Josh Ward.
In their meeting, the theological schools circle reached consensus about the disbursement of funds from the Lilly grant for reimagining theological education in the United Church. CCS plans to use grant money to develop new continuing education opportunities focused on diaconal history, identity, and practice, as well as raising the profile of existing programming and its value in skills for collaborative ministry.
The United Church of Canada website has a good article on the theological schools meeting and the project.
