Alan Lai named new CCS Principal
The Centre for Christian Studies is very happy to announce the appointment of Alan Lai as its new Principal, starting October 1, 2022.
Alan is an ordained United Church minister who has served both Chinese-speaking and English-speaking congregations. Most recently he has been in leadership at South Arm United Church in Richmond, BC.
Alan is also a practical theologian with a focus on cultural, theological, and religious interconnectedness. He holds a Master of Sacred Theology degree from the Saskatoon Theological Union and a Doctor of Education from Columbia University and Union Seminary. He taught formerly at Vancouver School of Theology in the area of pastoral theology. He has a keen interest in interfaith dialogue and global citizenship.
Sadekie Lyttle-Forbes, CCS co-chair and member of the search committee, commented on Alan’s infectious energy. His commitment and his passion for theological education draw you in and inspire.
Alan says, “I am deeply appreciative for the opportunity to lead CCS. As Principal, I look forward to bringing my passion, knowledge, and experience in theological education to the Centre. I come to build bridges and broaden our horizon.”
Alan joins the CCS staff of Janet, Marcie, Lori, Scott, Cheryl, and the newly hired member of Program Staff, Alcris Limongi.
We look forward to welcoming Alan to his new position as CCS Principal.

Welcome Alan! How exciting! I am actually from Richmond BC, and while I didn’t attend the United church as a child I certainly knew South arm. What a delight to have you join the team. My prayers and blessings are with you, Karen
