We Honour Women
A few years ago CCS grad Kimiko Karpoff created this poem/image for International Women’s Day (March 8) and Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day in Japan, March 3).
We honour women
connected at our root
at our core
women who give birth, carry life
who are about food and love and sheltering
who embrace
and defend
and laugh, cry and rage together
women of beauty
who carry water, tend fields
carry hope, tend families
we honour ourselves
our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunties, friends
sister form across the world
daughter we have never met in places we have never heard of
we listen and join our voices to their singing,
crying laughing,
raising up of what the world longs for
love
a love that feeds, embraces, shelters,
nurtures, speaks into being and listens into speech
we take hands
hold each other in love
love circles the world

I would like to contact Kimiko about using this poem in worship. How would I do that? Thanks!
Hi Patricia. I’ll pass your request on to Kimiko.
