October CCS Friday – Punching Up or Punching Down
On Friday, Oct 10 CCS hosted an online discussion of comedy and social justice. Humour can hurt or heal. Humour can overturn expectations. Truth-telling comics can become targets of those in power. How do comedians navigate and still be funny? How far is too far? Our special guest was Lara Rae. She is a well-known writer and comedian, a frequent guest on CBC’s The Debaters, and former artistic director of the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.
CCS Fridays: Online conversations to help us all to respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts. These workshops are open to anyone who might be interested. Each session will be on a Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 CT and in the form of a Zoom workshop. There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups.
