Faith Living OutLoud
CCS student Caitlin Smithers is one of the people behind FLO: Faith Living OutLoud, a project of OUTLoud North Bay. FLO is a monthly gathering of 2SLGBTQ+ youth to ask questions about faith, spirituality, and religion.
Queer youth don’t always experience church as a welcoming place. “I often get asked the question, ‘Will I be safe?'” says Caitlin, who serves as a United Church minister in North Bay, ON. “And that question hits me deeply.”
FLO is an opportunity for young people to ask questions, overturn assumptions, and explore their full humanity. Caitlin was recently interviewed by CBC radio about the project.
