Prayers for Wednesday, October 6
From staff worship:
Oh most blessed light, fill the innermost hearts of your faithful.
Without your power, nothing in in humans, nothing innocent.
Clean what is dirty, water what is dry, heal what is wounded.
Bend what is rigid, heat what is cold, lead what has gone astray.
(From the Latin, 13th Century)
O lux beatissima, reple cordis intima tuorum fidelium.
Sine tuo numine, nihil est in homine, nihil est innoxium.
Lava quod est sordidum, riga quod est aridum, sana quod est saucium.
Flecte quod est rigidum, fove quod est frigidum, rege quod est devium.
Jesus, you are the Great Questioner.
Keep our questions alive;
That we may always be seekers rather than settlers.
Guard us well fromt the sin of settling in
With our answers hugged to our breasts.
Make us a wondering, farsighted, questioning, restless people.
And give us the feet of pilgrims on the journey unfinished.
