Welcome Back to Fall – a poem for the season

Welcome Back to Fall – a poem for the season

Diane Trollope is a retired diaconal minister in Ontario.

The warmth is releasing us very slowly
into the era of cool air and colour.
It has been very hot!
Many are facing challenges not asked for after
the horror of fires, floods and loss of life.
We need to love!

We can pray and alter many lives, for both science
and faith have proved it so.
But we can act on those prayers at times and offer
much of God. The Creator walks the streets, roads and paths
with us in every kind of woe and joy

While we take on the Fall, we are off to school, work,
and other things that Fall adds to our life.
Like the colours of rainbows in leaves, and mud,
and sunsets amazing designs.

The Church will be changing in structure, but not in
faith, or intent to love and accept all people big
and small. God’s kids, you & I. So, look in the mirror
and see them in yourself as they dance into our
hearts and days and evenings.

We, those who still travel weekly, or more,
to places of worship. Yet, buildings and fields and gardens,
and lakes and sea shores, hills and
valleys and plains… they are God’s handiwork
and where worship becomes awe.

Walk straight into it with laughter to balance
the pain and grief that all scary newness brings.
And with an open heart and soul to all
that may intrude, or alter what we knew.
The Creator is always within.

Love is the only answer to everything we
think is wrong, or different,
or awkward, or any assumption.
The Creator loves without conditions,
so we are to walk that way… the way
of unconditional love.

And God bless all we do in that loving grace!
Blessings to all as we walk & move
our dance steps to better match the Creator’s wisdom.

Welcome to Fall! Colour us myriad, beautiful & holy ~ 2018
