Carmen Lansdowne Event
Nov 6, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm CST

Join us for an in-person book conversation with past UCC Moderator, The Right Rev. Carmen Lansdowne on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2:00 PM (CST) at the United Church in Meadowood (1111 Dakota St) in Winnipeg.
The Indigenous intercultural theology proposed in Carmen’s new book, Wearing a Broken Indigene Heart on the Sleeve of Christian Mission, seeks to reframe many of the often unspoken assumptions about the field of Christian mission. Carmen searches out answers to the question: If Indigenous hearts are broken by Christian-ity, what is in Christian theology that is life giving? Engage with Carmen as she talks through a constructive vision of mission – for us and for the world.
“We must raise voices that offer a different and insistent Indigenous narrative to transform the understanding of Settlers. I am attempting to set the stage for a new relationship altogether. From that new relationship, perhaps the church can be transformed as well as be transforming.”
– Carmen Lansdowne
The Right Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne was Moderator of the United Church of Canada from 2022 to 2025. In 2025, Dr Landsdowne took a position on the faculty of Emmanuel College, University of Toronto. Carmen is a member of the Heiltsuk First Nation.
This event is being hosted by CCS and a number of Winnipeg United Churches.
