SUMMARY:CCS Friday - Youth and Climate Justice
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, Dec 8 (noon Manitoba time\, 11 in Alberta\, 1 in Ontario\, etc.) for an online discussion of youth and climate justice. Our special guest will be Amy Crawford\, team leader for Faith Formation and Mission with the General Council of the United Church of Canada\, who coordinated last summers Climate Motivator’s program for UCC youth. \nThis summer\, 15 youth from across the church participated in the United Church of Canada’s first ever Climate Motivators program. Each student was sponsored by\, and in partnership with\, a local community of faith where they worked together on local climate justice or environmental needs. The motivators connected online and in-person to learn how to be leaders\, worship\, be in nature\, act for change\, and influence church policy\, including time spent with the UCC Moderator\, Carmen Lansdowne. \nAmy Crawford has just returned from a short sabbatical where she was reviewing and evaluating what happened to the youth and the people they interacted with.  She will share some of her insights and might even bring a Climate Motivator to share leadership! \nCCS Fridays are free. Please register to receive a zoom link. \nCCS Fridays: \nOnline conversations to help us respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts.  These workshops are open to anyone who might be interested. Each session will be on a Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 CT and in the form of a Zoom workshop.  There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing\, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups.

SUMMARY:CCS Online Open House and Advent Worship
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to our holiday Open House and Advent Worship online on Tuesday\, Dec 12th. (Time: 4:30pm in Manitoba and Saskatchewan\, 5:30 in Ontario\, 6:30 in the Maritimes\, 3:30 in Alberta\, 2:30 in BC). Come spend an hour or two with us\, making the season a bit brighter. \nWe’ll start off with a short online worship service\, led by students and members of the CCS community across the country\, to celebrate the warmth of the season and to prayer for peace in the world. \nAfter that we’ll have a number of online breakout rooms to choose from\, depending on your interest. There’ll be at least one for catching up with old friends\, one for meeting new people. There’ll be a breakout room for anyone who is thinking about a call to Diaconal Ministry\, or knows someone who is\, and/or wants to learn more about CCS’s programs. \nThis gathering is for anyone\, whether you’re part of the larger CCS community\, curious what the Centre for Christian Studies is all about\, or just looking for a moment of peace and reflection in the Christmas hubbub.
