SUMMARY:CCS Friday - Painting Canadian Lives: Art and Education
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, February 11\, for an online discussion of learning from art and learning through art\, and the process of telling historical stories in a contemporary way with artist Kellen Hatanaka. Kellen is a Toronto-based artist and designer  whose currently art exhibit in Vancouver is called “Safe | Home”\, focusing on the historic Japanese-Canadian Asahi baseball team. He has worked with a variety of clients including Nike\, Casper\, The Wall Street Journal\, 7D8\, The Polaris Music Prize\, The Walrus\, The Drake Hotel\, Sid Lee\, Bruce Mau Design\, Frank and Oak and Absolut Vodka. He was awarded the Governor General’s Award in 2016 along with Jon-Erik Lappano for their book\, “Tokyo Digs a Garden.” \n\nCCS Fridays:\nOnline conversations to help us all to respond faithfully to emerging issues in local contexts.  These workshops are open to anyone who might be interested. Each session will be on a Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 Central (Winnipeg time) and in the form of a Zoom workshop.  There will be a presentation that will be recorded for future viewing\, plus opportunities to engage with the ideas in small groups. \nSessions are free but you must register.
