Book Launch: When God Was Flesh and Wild

Book Launch: When God Was Flesh and Wild

You are invited to a cozy afternoon book launch on Saturday, Nov. 21st from 2-4pm at Immanuel United Church (corner of Golspie and Kimberley, off Henderson Hwy in Winnipeg).  Bob Haverluck promises there will be “music, story theatre, coffee, tea, baked yum yums, and licorice cigars.”

You might remember about a year ago we announced the publication of three new storybooks by artist/poet/theologian Bob Haverluck.  Bob has taken the three biblical-based stories, added a fourth, and a foreword by Ched Myers, and compiled them into When God Was Flesh and Wild: Stories in Defense of the Earth.  Eco-theologian Sallie McFague calls the book “wise and wonderful!”  Ched Myers calls it “insightful” and “delightful.”  Ed Foley of the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago calls it “a first aid kit for the soul.”

When God was Flesh and Wild: Stories in Defense of the Earth is available for purchase from CCS ($28 + postage), as are the three storybooks ($10 each).

Or pick up a copy in person at the book launch.  There will be entertainment from singer-songwriter Sam Baardman, fiddler Susan Israel, actor-writer Ellen Peterson, and Bob Haverluck himself.
