Social Ministry fall 2015 learning circle – week two

Another busy week of learning about social justice at CCS.  Students led sessions exploring racism, refugees, militarism and terrorism, poverty, and environmental justice.

By the end of the week students and staff alike were feeling tired, but the opportunity on Friday night to take part in a Feast for Friends in Winnipeg’s North End with the folks at Meet Me At The Bell Tower (a grassroots community gathering that’s been running every Friday night for four years), members of the Muslim community committed to solidarity and partnership with the Aboriginal community, and 1JustCity (a coalition of United Church outreach ministries) was inspiring and rejuvenating.  It felt like a practical expression of the justice-seeking themes we’ve been exploring this week.
