Joy is Like the Rain

MT and JimAt the graduation banquet on Saturday, Miriam Therese Winter was introduced as a Companion of the Centre.  MT led us in singing two of her songs: Joy is Like the Rain, and O For a World.  She joked, “Thank you for taking me in; we nuns are persona non grata among certain people in the Vatican, but they will never find me here.”

Miriam Therese provided some insightful background on the context of writing Joy is Like the Rain.  The song was written in the 1960s.  She said, “If you know Joy is Like the Rain, and I hope you do because I want you to sing out, but if you know it, then you’re getting old as well.”
