Ten students gathered online from March 22 to 29, 2022 to explore the various kinds of relationships that shape us – family relationships, romantic relationships, pastoral relationship, friendships – all through a lens of spiritual care. We dipped our toes into family systems theory, unpacked our baggage about sexuality (and left some stuff discreetly packed – boundaries are important!), wrestled with theologies of sin and theologies of inter-relatedness, heard illuminating and amusing anecdotes about weddings and covenants from experienced officiators Helen Reed and Nancy Sanders, and considered ways of providing meaningful and supportive ritual for divorce, break-ups, and other relationship endings. Min-Goo Kang’s presence was greatly appreciated throughout the circle as our chaplain.
