CCS Response to COVID-19

CCS Response to COVID-19

In response to the need to care for one another’s health and safety, the Centre for Christian Studies will not be holding any in-person events in March and April. We have contingency plans in place as outlined below.

We are grateful for the years of experience we have as a distance education institution that have prepared us for the situation in which we find ourselves. Our AGM will be held online, as planned, on Thursday March 19th. If you are a graduate, donor, student, volunteer or friend of CCS, please join us for this chance to gather in community. We begin with worship at 6 pm Central. You can find out how to connect by going to the AGM 2020 page.

We are planning to host our April learning circles (Integration, Oppression and Resistance, and Ages and Stages) online, instead of in-person in Winnipeg. Our Central Council will also meet online, rather than travel for the usual face-to-face meeting in April.

We will miss gathering together in one room for fellowship and worship at our annual Banquet and Service of Celebration, but will find other ways of rejoicing together and honouring the work of our graduating class and Companion. These plans are still unfolding and will be announced, as they are known.

Most of our staff will be working from home over the next while. Email is probably the best way to contact us.

Our 2020 Learning on Purpose course, originally scheduled for June in London, ON, is postponed. Once we know when it is safe to reschedule, we’ll announce.

Our mission is “educating leaders for justice, compassion and transformation”. While we often understand diaconal ministers to be agents of transformation, in this moment we find ourselves responding to the world transformed by a global pandemic. Refraining from travel and in-person gatherings are acts of justice and compassion, our community’s contribution to mitigating the impact of COVID-19.

We ask that you continue to hold our community in prayer, as we will continue to pray for you. As we all continue to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God, we pray that all will be well.
