Charlotte Caron’s Book Is For The Birds

Charlotte Caron’s Book Is For The Birds

(Come on, now.  Given the subject matter, did you think I wouldn’t give this post that title?)

magicofbirdsCharlotte Caron (CCS 1972) has launched a book of poetry entitled The Magic of Birds. Charlotte says, “For some time I have wanted to put together a book of poems that I have written with photos of the birds that the poem are about. For me the goal of poetry about birds is to capture some of their beauty and to acknowledge how fragile our world is. Some of the poems are descriptive of the birds—some reflect on life and spirit.” Three photographers contributed to the book—Gwenna Moss from Winnipeg, Jim Richmond from San Diego and Ron McLean from Victoria. The book is available on line from blurb.ca .

Here’s a sample:

Black Angels

A murder of crows
Assigned by God
To watch the Garden gate
Bombard in raucous rage
One lone Cooper’s hawk
Who seeks to slide past
Their watchful eyes
Hoping to make breakfast
Out of the cheery warblers
Wakening as the morning sun
Comes gently to their Eden roost.
